More than 2,000 Rockwall ISD juniors and seniors received conditional scholarship offers totaling more than $4.9 billion through a partnership with VU Scholarships, the district announced Thursday, Oct. 29.
Group 1 Ford of Rockwall sponsored the program.
The offers broke down by campus as follows, according to the district: Rockwall High School received more than 53,000 scholarship offers totaling $2.6 billion. Rockwall-Heath High School received more than 45,000 offers totaling $2.3 billion. Rockwall Quest Academy received more than 630 offers totaling $29.3 million.
The figures represent conditional offers from colleges that partner with VU, not guaranteed awards. According to VU's FAQ page, colleges can rescind or change offers if students miss application deadlines or do not maintain the academic standing on which the offer was based. Students must still apply to any school they want to attend.
VU matches students with scholarship offers based on their academics before they apply to college. Students with a 2.0 GPA or above qualify, and the program is free for families, according to VU's website.
Group 1 Ford of Rockwall wrote on X on Oct. 28 that the dealership is "proud to sponsor students from Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath High Schools" through the partnership. The district's announcement also listed Quest Academy as a participant.
A student can receive as many scholarship offers as there are VU college partners, and VU says it continues to add colleges, universities and technical schools to its partner network throughout the year.
