Rockwall and Heath residents face a packed calendar from late August through late October, with a 25th-anniversary 9/11 ceremony, a new theater season, free lakeside concerts and a charity motorcycle ride all on the schedule.

Sept. 11: 9/11 Remembrance and 'The Immigrant' opens
The 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks will be marked with a remembrance ceremony Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Rockwall County Courthouse, 1111 E. Yellowjacket Lane. Local law enforcement, fire and emergency medical agencies will gather to honor those affected by the 2001 attacks, according to the Rockwall Herald-Banner's community calendar.
That same evening, Rockwall Community Playhouse opens its 2026–2027 mainstage season with "The Immigrant," directed by Felicia Sykes. The play tells the true story of a young Russian-Jewish immigrant who arrived through the port of Galveston in 1909 and settled in Hamilton, Texas. Playwright Mark Harelik based it on his own grandfather's life.
"He had been my hero since I was a boy," Harelik said of his grandfather in remarks published by Blue Ribbon News in July.
The cast includes Adam Vigil, Rue Underwood, James Brown, Micha Stevens and Casey Norris. Performances run through Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, at 609 E. Rusk. The Playhouse is celebrating 31 years of community theater in 2026.
Sept. 17–20: Clay shoot, casino night and charity ride
The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its 10th annual "Red, White and Boom" clay shooting tournament Thursday, Sept. 17. The event includes a Cigars & Cards after-party with food, drinks, live entertainment and prizes. Contact [email protected] or (972) 771-5733 for details.
The Rockwall Soroptimists' seventh annual Black and White Casino Night follows Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Venue at Boyd Farm, as we reported July 29.
On Sunday, Sept. 20, the 11th annual Bikes for Tykes Teddy Bear Ride rolls through Rockwall County. Riders, sponsors and vendors can register at rockwallbikesfortykes.com.
October: Concerts, Firefighters' Ball and Scare on the Square
Concert by the Lake returns to The Harbor, 2059 Summer Lee Drive, on four Thursdays in October from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. The lineup, per the city's event page: Oct. 8, The King Lives (Elvis tribute); Oct. 15, Buffett Beach Band (Jimmy Buffett tribute); Oct. 22, Def Leggend (Def Leppard tribute); Oct. 29, Rockwall Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Firefighters' Ball is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Hilton in Rockwall, honoring firefighters Tim Sullivan and Ted Carpenter. Contact [email protected] for tickets.
Scare on the Square brings trick-or-treating, bounce houses and a hay maze to downtown Rockwall on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Still running: Farmers Market and live music downtown
The Rockwall Farmers Market continues weekly through September in Historic Downtown Rockwall, 8 a.m. to noon, with local produce, meats, baked goods and honey. The San Jacinto Plaza Music Series offers free live music Fridays and Saturdays, 7 to 9:30 p.m., through October.
