Rockwall County will dedicate a new Veterans Memorial Brick Garden on Wednesday, Nov. 11, giving families a permanent place to honor military service.
The Rockwall County Veterans Memorial Foundation’s ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in Liberty Hall at the county courthouse, 1111 E. Yellow Jacket Lane, the Rockwall County Herald-Banner reported.
The garden features personalized bricks recognizing veterans, active-duty service members and those killed or missing in action.
A county announcement published in July listed engraved bricks at $60 each. The 4-by-8-inch bricks can carry up to three lines of text and become a permanent tribute at the memorial.
Residents interested in purchasing a brick or supporting the foundation can request information through the contact form at rcvmf.org.
Heath will hold its third annual Veterans Day ceremony later that day, beginning at 5 p.m. at Towne Center Park.
Kenneth “Kenny” Griffith of the Heath Department of Public Safety will speak about his military service, according to Blue Ribbon News. Griffith is a retired U.S. Army staff sergeant who served three combat tours in Iraq and received the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart.
The program includes a presentation of the colors, performances by members of Rockwall-Heath High School’s Infiniti Choir and refreshments. After the ceremony, attendees can stay for food trucks and classic rock performed by the Lone Star Thunder Band.
Heath invites residents, veterans and active-duty military personnel to attend.
