Two people were stabbed Monday, Sept. 28, at a home in Fate. The suspect died of apparent self-inflicted injuries after barricading himself inside the home, the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office said.
Rockwall County Sheriff's deputies and Fate Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Alexander Lane at about 10:45 a.m. after a woman called the Rockwall County Emergency Communications Center and reported that her son had cut her, according to a Rockwall County press release published by Blue Ribbon News. A second 911 call reported that a male victim had also been stabbed.
The 911 call indicates the incident was domestic in nature. The female caller identified the suspect as her son.
First responders found both victims outside the home. Rockwall County EMS treated the male victim at the scene and transported him to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Paramedics treated and released the female victim at the scene.
Both victims survived.
The suspect refused deputies' commands to come outside and barricaded himself in the home, according to the county. The Rockwall County Emergency Response Team then began operations to take the suspect into custody.
When team members entered the residence, they found the suspect with apparent self-inflicted injuries, Jim Barto, public information officer for Rockwall County, said in the press release. The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No names of the victims or the suspect have been released, and the investigation remains ongoing, the Rockwall Herald-Banner reported.
