A national food show will film at We The People Taproom in Rockwall on Wednesday, Sept. 16, marking the first time the crew has traveled outside its home base.

ChowDown Roadshow, an offshoot of Cincinnati-based ChowDown Cincinnati, chose the husband-and-wife-owned taproom at 165 E. Quail Run Road, Suite 103, as one of its stops on its first-ever out-of-state trip, Blue Ribbon News reported. Filming runs 3 to 6 p.m.

Allen and Shannon Bryan opened We The People Taproom on Feb. 15, according to a press release from ChowDown Cincinnati. The City of Rockwall issued a certificate of occupancy for the space on Jan. 23, listing Allen Bryan as business owner. Construction began in the summer of 2025.

The couple met as single parents in South Carolina and married in 2014. A trip to Key West planted the idea for a taproom, and a later visit to one in Virginia shaped their vision for a laid-back gathering spot with food, drinks and community.

Their restaurant combines a self-pour tap system with a food menu that includes fish and chips, shrimp and grits, and items like Koreatown and Al Pastor. A new burger called the Lone Star Diablo is in the works.

One standout feature inside the taproom: a star-shaped light fixture built from beer bottles Allen and Shannon collected over several months. The couple sampled different brands specifically to get the right mix of bottle shapes and colors.

ChowDown Roadshow describes itself as "the trusted map of independently owned restaurants worth driving for." The company has spent more than a decade supporting independent restaurants in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, according to project manager Ansley Rooks. The Texas trip is the show's first venture beyond that region.

The episode will feature the Bryans' story and a look at the restaurant's food and atmosphere, Rooks said in the press release. No air date or platform for the finished segment has been announced.
