Kaydon Castro has rushed for 775 yards in five games, and the Rockwall High senior has already surpassed his entire junior-year total.
Castro ranks second in total rushing yards across the area at the midpoint of the 2026 season, according to the Rockwall JFND Football program's account on X. The senior running back is averaging 155 yards per game and 6.7 yards per carry, with seven touchdowns on 115 attempts, per MaxPreps.
He has already blown past his junior-year numbers. Castro rushed for 695 yards and 11 touchdowns across all 10 games in 2025. Five games into 2026, he has surpassed that yardage total by 80 yards.
Four of those five games have been 100-yard performances. His biggest came Sept. 18 against Mesquite Horn, when he ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in Rockwall's 69-48 District 10-6A win, according to the Rockwall Herald-Banner.
On Sept. 25 against North Forney, Castro carried 25 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-42 Rockwall victory. He broke loose for a 26-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter to push the Yellowjackets' lead to 49-35.
Castro isn't doing it alone. Quarterback Collins Jones completed 16 of 20 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns against North Forney, adding 64 yards and two scores on the ground. That balance has helped Rockwall open district play 2-0 and sit at 4-1 overall.
MaxPreps places Castro in the top 57 rushers in Texas and the top 16 in his division. A preseason Herald-Banner preview listed him as a key returning weapon for head coach Trey Brooks' offense.
The Yellowjackets have a bye this week. They return to Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 9, to host Longview, which also enters at 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district.
