Rockwall resident Tyler Bromley will spend 15 years in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl that killed a 21-year-old man.

U.S. District Judge Sean Jordan handed down the sentence Sept. 2 in Sherman, the Rockwall County Herald-Banner reported. Bromley pleaded guilty on July 1, 2025, to trafficking and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl resulting in death.

The charge stemmed from the death of Brayden Wooten, 21, of Sulphur Springs. Wooten was found dead at his home on Dec. 23, 2023, and his death was ruled a fentanyl overdose.

A federal grand jury indicted Bromley and four other men in August 2024 in connection with Wooten's death. Bromley was the first defendant sentenced. The four co-defendants' federal cases remain pending, according to KLTV.

Beyond prison time, Bromley faces five years of supervised release and a five-year denial of federal benefits, KLTV reported.

Separate murder charge in Hopkins County

Bromley was also charged with first-degree murder in Hopkins County in connection with a separate fentanyl death. A woman was found dead in her home on Jan. 30, 2024, and an autopsy confirmed she died from a fentanyl overdose, according to the Herald-Banner. The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office identified Bromley as the alleged source of the drugs.

Bromley, then 26, was arrested in Rockwall in February 2024 on a Hopkins County murder warrant and booked into the Rockwall County Jail. He was held on a $1 million bond.

The current status of the Hopkins County murder charge has not been confirmed in public reporting.
