Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath begin District 10-6A play on Friday, Sept. 18, after three weeks of nondistrict football that produced a combined 509 points between the two programs.
The Yellowjackets (2-1) host Mesquite Horn (0-3). The Hawks (1-2) travel to Tyler Legacy (1-2). Four playoff spots are available across seven district games for each team.
Rockwall: 44 points per game, 42 allowed
Quarterback Collins Jones has driven the Yellowjackets' offense. Jones accounted for seven touchdowns in a 51-28 rout of Dallas Jesuit, throwing for five and running for two while the offense piled up 579 total yards. He followed that with five touchdowns against Melissa on Friday, Sept. 11, going 17-of-27 for 342 yards and three scores through the air while adding 75 rushing yards and two more on the ground.
Running back Kaydon Castro rushed for 177 yards in the Week 1 loss to Prosper on 24 carries and 168 yards against Jesuit on 25 carries.
The other side of the scoreboard tells a different story for coach Trey Brooks. Rockwall allowed 56 points to Prosper in a 56-37 season-opening loss, gave up 28 to Jesuit and surrendered 41 to Melissa. The Yellowjackets finished 4-6 in 2025. The offense has averaged 44.7 points per game through three weeks. The defense has allowed 41.7.
Rockwall was ranked No. 15 in the Dallas Morning News SportsDayHS DFW Class 6A rankings entering Week 3.
Heath: big scores, thin margins under Dick
First-year head coach Casey Dick arrived at Rockwall-Heath after leading Fayetteville, Ark., to a state championship. The Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees approved his hiring in March. Three games in, the Hawks have scored at least 44 points twice and lost two games by a combined seven points.
Heath opened with a 45-20 loss to Denton Guyer, then beat Highland Park 49-46 on Sept. 5 in a game decided in the final seconds. Carter Zahm scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 4-yard run with 2:40 left. Highland Park drove into field-goal range, but the snap was mishandled, ending the threat.
"I've never been more proud of a group of kids … Just unbelievable resiliency, effort," Dick said after the Highland Park win on Sept. 5.
The Hawks then fell 46-44 to Trophy Club Byron Nelson on Sept. 11. Quarterback Prosper Neal accounted for six touchdowns in that loss, completing 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards and five scores while adding 73 rushing yards and another on the ground. Receiver Carter Zahm caught three passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Neal, who threw for 2,018 yards as a junior in 2025, has accounted for 11 touchdowns in his last two games. Senior linebacker Carson Adams, who recorded 103 tackles and six sacks last season, anchors a defense that allowed 137 points through three games. Heath went 8-4 and won a bi-district playoff game in 2025.
The rest of the field
The Herald-Banner's district preview names Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath, North Forney and Longview (2-1) as the four teams that entered the season as the district's leading contenders. North Forney, which went 10-2 and reached the area round last season, enters district at 0-2 after losses to Prosper and Lancaster. Royse City is 1-2. Forney (0-3) returned only four starters from a team that reached the regional semifinals.
Mesquite Horn has been outscored 158-65 through three games. Tyler Legacy (1-2) posted a 61-35 win over Mesquite in Week 3 after going 2-8 last season.
