David Vega, CEO of Rockwall Capital Group, will present small-business strategies at the Rockwall Area Small Business Alliance (RASBA) September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Vega's talk draws from his recently published book, Running the Business: A Practical Guide to Operating and Leading a Small Business. Every attendee will receive a free paperback copy, according to The Rockwall Times.
His presentation covers business planning, financial discipline, operations and leadership.
"Small business owners are often expected to be the salesperson, financial manager, strategist, problem solver and leader, sometimes all in the same day," Vega said in the announcement. "My goal is not to tell business owners how to run their companies, but to share some practical frameworks and lessons that can help them think more deliberately about how they operate and lead."
Vega has spent more than 25 years working with business owners and executives through Rockwall Capital Group, a Rockwall County-based investment and advisory firm. He has also written several books on leadership and human behavior, including the Fool for Thought series.
The book started as a free digital resource for entrepreneurs. After strong interest, the material was expanded with a greater emphasis on leadership and formally published in paperback and eBook editions, according to an Aug. 26 press release. A complimentary digital edition is also available through Rockwall Capital Group for those who cannot attend.
RASBA meets on the second Tuesday of each month and brings together local business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals for networking, education and learning from guest speakers.
The meeting runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5575 S. State Highway 205 in Rockwall. RSVPs are available through the group's Facebook page.
