Rockwall-Heath swept Longview 3-0 in District 10-6A volleyball Tuesday, Sept. 22, pushing the Lady Hawks' winning streak to three matches.
The home victory tipped off at 6:30 p.m. and improved Heath's overall record to 27-7 with a 3-2 district mark, according to MaxPreps.
The Lady Hawks sit third in District 10-6A after a rough opening week of district play. Heath fell 3-1 at North Forney on Tuesday, Sept. 8, then lost 3-0 at Rockwall on Friday, Sept. 11.
Heath has not lost since.
The Lady Hawks beat Royse City 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 15, topped Tyler Legacy 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 18, and handled Longview by the same margin to run off three straight sweeps.
The streak comes during a milestone season for head coach Maggie Younger, who won her 600th career game against Denton Guyer on Friday, Sept. 4. Younger has led the program for 23 years, dating back to the school's opening.
Younger told the Rockwall County Herald-Banner in a Sept. 8 profile that anyone familiar with the program would say it's defined by family, unity, discipline and expectation.
That culture showed early this season. Heath opened the Pearland Tournament with six straight wins, beating Helotes O'Connor, Spring, Houston Summer Creek, Dallas Lake Highlands, New Braunfels and Klein Oak before reaching the championship bracket. The Lady Hawks also knocked off rival Rockwall in two sets during the event.
The district race remains tight. Rockwall leads at 5-0 with a 24-7 overall record, and North Forney is 4-0 at 23-11, according to MaxPreps standings as of Wednesday, Sept. 23. Heath's three-match streak has the Lady Hawks climbing back into the picture at 3-2.
Heath hosts Forney on Friday, Sept. 25, at 5:30 p.m., then welcomes rival Rockwall on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
