Stroke patients in Rockwall County now have access to nationally certified rehabilitation care after ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital earned a specialized credential from The Joint Commission.

The 36-bed hospital at 25 Hope Drive in Heath received the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Stroke Rehabilitation Certification, The Rockwall Times reported. The Joint Commission is an independent nonprofit that accredits more than 22,000 health care organizations and programs nationwide.

A Joint Commission surveyor conducted an on-site review of the hospital before awarding the certification. The review evaluated patient care processes, the hospital's interdisciplinary approach to treatment, use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and performance improvement efforts.

The certification falls under the Joint Commission's voluntary Disease-Specific Care program, which sets standards for specialized treatment. Hospitals that earn it must demonstrate compliance with national standards, use of clinical practice guidelines and ongoing quality measurement.

CEO Jason Hudson said the certification reflects the work of the hospital's physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff.

"This achievement also recognizes our ability to meet the needs of the community by offering access to this level of stroke care, remaining focused on excellent outcomes so our patients can maximize recovery, regain independence, and return home to the activities they enjoy," Hudson said in a news release.

Dr. Lanah Koh, the hospital's medical director, said the team's focus is on helping each patient rebuild after a stroke.

"Our goal is to help every patient move forward with strength and confidence," Koh said. "This certification recognizes that commitment and motivates us to keep setting a high bar for stroke rehabilitation."

ClearSky Rockwall County provides inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and other complex conditions. The hospital had already earned a general Joint Commission accreditation, noted on its website as of March 2026. The stroke rehabilitation certification is a separate, more specialized credential.
