Heath is recruiting food truck operators to serve at Towne Center Park, the city's $12.8 million park that opened July 4.

The city posted the open call Thursday, Oct. 8, through its official social media account on X, directing vendors to apply through the city's online parks and recreation reservation portal.

The designated food truck zone is called Festival Street, a paved area at the park's main entrance next to the pickleball courts. Three spots are available.

Assistant City Manager Chelsey Gordon laid out the setup at the Heath City Council's Sept. 8 meeting, when the council unanimously approved Ordinance No. 260908A establishing the fee structure. "Festival Street includes three designated spaces for regular- to large-sized food trucks, three power pedestals providing 30-amp electrical service, and vehicular-rated pavers," Gordon told the council.

Operators will pay a $50 daily reservation fee. An optional $10 electricity fee covers use of the power pedestals. The fees do not apply to city-sponsored events.

Vendors must hold a mobile food vendor license and maintain food handler certifications. Revenue from reservations may go toward park maintenance and future recreation improvements, Gordon told the council at the Sept. 8 meeting.

Festival Street will also host concerts, holiday celebrations, athletic tournaments and other community gatherings.

The park reconstruction, awarded to Hill & Wilkinson as construction manager at risk in January 2024, added a parking lot, interactive fountain, new sports courts, playground equipment, landscaping and field rehabilitation. The project was funded through a portion of the city's 2023 certificates of obligation, according to council records from June.

Towne Center Park held its grand opening July 4, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live band, food trucks, family activities and prize drawings, according to park board minutes.

Operators can apply through the city's Park and Recreation Reservation Portal or contact the parks department at 972-771-6228 or [email protected].
