PulteGroup broke ground Wednesday, Sept. 30, on Del Webb Sonoma Verde, a 55-and-older community in McLendon-Chisholm.
The project is Del Webb's first on the east side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Del Webb is PulteGroup's (NYSE: PHM) brand for active-adult housing.
Division President Scott Bryson led the ceremony, turning dirt alongside other PulteGroup executives and representatives from developer partner Taylor-Davis Interests, according to a PulteGroup press release published by Blue Ribbon News. Vice presidents Gary Davis (Construction), Regina Pinnell (Sales), Tricia Carillo (Finance) and Marc Zett (Land Development) also attended.
The community sits inside the larger Sonoma Verde master-planned neighborhood in Rockwall County. Homes are listed starting from the $400,000s on Del Webb's community page.
Planned amenities include an outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a fitness center, pickleball courts, a putting green, an infrared sauna and miles of walking trails. A full-time lifestyle director will coordinate social events and outings. Del Webb residents will also have access to the broader Sonoma Verde amenities, which include sport courts, playgrounds, greenbelts, picnic areas and a stocked fishing pond.
PulteGroup said the location puts residents about 10 miles from Lake Ray Hubbard and roughly 30 minutes from downtown Dallas, with easy access to Highway 205, Interstate 30 and the George Bush Turnpike.
Taylor-Davis Interests, which handled years of planning and infrastructure coordination for the Sonoma Verde project, said on its company blog that Del Webb at Sonoma Verde North was named a finalist for D CEO magazine's 2026 Real Estate Awards in the projects and deals category.
No model-home opening date or move-in timeline has been announced. An interest list is forming, and prospective buyers can call (972) 635-0663 for information.
