Performers of all ages will compete for $500 in cash prizes at Rockwall Talent Live on Nov. 7. The Rockwall Noon Rotary Club is staging the free show at the Rockwall-Heath Performing Arts Center, 801 Laurence Drive in Heath.
Admission is free, but seating is limited. Registered ticket holders get a guaranteed seat, while walk-up guests will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis if room remains, according to the event's registration page.
Doors open at 2 p.m. with food trucks and games on site. The show runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The lineup spans singing, dancing, live music, comedy and specialty acts. Competition categories include kindergarten through fifth grade, sixth through 12th grade, ages 19–64, ages 65 and older, families and groups, according to the Rockwall Herald-Banner. Rockwall ISD students will perform as campus representatives.
A panel of judges includes CJ Pierce, guitarist for the Dallas-formed rock band Drowning Pool; actor, producer and writer Major Dodge; Vanilla Ice backup dancer Corey "Ko-Ko" Thompson; and choreographer Camille Thompson, according to the event website.
Proceeds support the Rockwall Noon Rotary Scholarship Program, which funds scholarships for Rockwall ISD students. The club's scholarship page shows past awards have included two $20,000 Hawk Scholarships and a $15,000 Rotary Scholarship, awarded to recipients Lauren Conselman, Jace Blair and Emily Jennings, who headed to Texas A&M, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
Rotary members Beth Johnson, Noel Williams and Shari Williams promoted the event at the Fall Community Service Fair on Sept. 26 in downtown Rockwall, according to the club's website. Students from the Rockwall High Interact Club, including officers Tacoya Rawlins and David Ajayi, joined them that morning.
