Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath will settle the I-30 Classic on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m., but the rivalry is already underway off the field.
Rockwall ISD Sports Marketing announced on X that both schools have launched a virtual food drive benefiting Helping Hands of Rockwall County. Fans can scan their school's QR code to donate online. The drive replaces the traditional canned-goods collection at the request of Helping Hands, according to a RISD Athletics Facebook post.
The need is significant. The Royse City Herald-Banner reported in September that Helping Hands' food distribution rose 48% over the previous year. The organization provided direct assistance to more than 1,000 households during the first six months of 2026.
Both teams enter at 3-1 in district
According to MaxPreps, the Yellowjackets are 5-2 overall and 3-1 in District 10-6A, ranked third in the district. They have scored 358 points and allowed 320 through seven games.
Head coach Trey Brooks' offense has been prolific. Through five weeks, Rockwall averaged 545 yards per game, the most in the Dallas area in terms of yardage, The Dallas Morning News reported. Running back Kayden Castro had 776 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground through that stretch. Quarterback Collins Jones had thrown for 1,277 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Receiver Ryan Wiley ranked among the area leaders with 13 receiving touchdowns through eight weeks, per the Morning News.
The Hawks stand at 4-3 overall and 3-1 in district, ranked second. They have outscored opponents 280-262.
First-year head coach Casey Dick has Rockwall-Heath in solid position despite a 48-27 loss at Longview on Oct. 16. The Dallas Morning News noted after Week 8 that Dick has the Hawks well-placed at 3-1 in district.
Dick came to Heath from Fayetteville High School in Arkansas, where he led the program to a state championship in 2023, as The Dallas Morning News reported in its preseason preview. He played quarterback at Arkansas after starring at Allen. Brooks, meanwhile, was a walk-on defensive back at Texas A&M from 2003 to 2006, according to the Rockwall Herald-Banner.
"I never take anything for granted and never feel like anything is owed to me," Brooks said in that September profile. "I work everyday like I am trying to earn my keep and I think that translates over to our team and their mentality."
Road to Nov. 6
Both teams have two district games left before the I-30 Classic. Rockwall travels to Forney on Friday, Oct. 23, then hosts Royse City on Friday, Oct. 30. Rockwall-Heath hosts Horn on Friday, Oct. 23, and travels to North Forney on Friday, Oct. 30.
The Nov. 6 game is scheduled at Rockwall-Heath, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
