Democrat Dan Barrios is running against Republican Jace Yarbrough for Texas’ 32nd Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, election, according to the state ballot certification.

Barrios’ campaign biography says he grew up in Brownsville and joined the Richardson City Council in 2023.

Affordability and healthcare

His campaign identifies consumer protections and the cost of living as priorities. Barrios says residents should have access to affordable, quality healthcare and emphasizes restoring trust in government and protecting constitutional rights.

His issues platform also lists education, immigration, technology, labor, agriculture, energy and public safety. The overview reviewed does not establish a complete legislative package, funding estimate or timetable for those goals.

Authority and local effects

A member of the U.S. House can propose legislation, vote on federal funding and oversee federal agencies. Barrios could not independently set local school budgets, change the state tax system or enact federal policy without congressional and presidential action.

The proposals could affect federal services and funding for district residents, but the sources reviewed do not quantify household savings or guarantee particular local projects. Voters should confirm their congressional district on their official sample ballot.

The Rockwall Herald did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
